Cherchez la Femme is about creating a space for feminists to shoot the breeze over a few drinks and we’ve taken this show on the road, visiting Sydney, Canberra, Hobart, and Newcastle. Now we’re heading to Adelaide! Karen Pickering will be welcoming a panel of brilliant feminist thinkers in the region to talk about Feminism and Community. The feminist movement is seeing some big changes lately, with old debates being revisited, reignited and yes, being seen in new and challenging ways. The incredible influence of online spaces in building connections between feminists has been transformational, but it also puts women in a firing line like we’ve never seen before.
How do we build feminist communities? Do you feel like your networks of other women and feminists are strong and supportive? What would you like to see the feminist community at large do differently? All this and more as we invite these amazing local women to the CLF stage:
Following the discussion will be a gig featuring Em & Clem’s Feminist Cabaret supported by Adelaide band Babes Are Wolves - ticket packages for both discussion and show are available!
Emily Davis and Clementine Ford are pleased to return to the Wheaty stage for their extra special marguerita fuelled Cabaret. Flicking through their wide ranging songbook with an eau de nostalgia, Em and Clem will walk you through vintage tinged lady-fied classic hits, as well as new original works and of course a creepy country carol or two.
With support from Babes are Wolves, this gig promises to be a fitting way to finish off a day of discussion with some boozy fun lady times.
