CHER CHEZ LA FEMME: FEMINISM AND WORK, MAY 2015

21922_867252499983462_2728408361322644159_nAnother month is passing and another brilliant panel has been assembled for next month’s show Cherchez la Femme: Feminism and Work. Many of us are engaged in work, paid or unpaid, be it creative, intellectual, physical, menial, domestic, voluntary, satisfying or otherwise. The issue of how we work and get paid is of particular import to women, who until relatively recently were not a part of traditional labour forces. But work we do! The challenges we face as women working, trying to work, or balancing our public and private labour, will form part of the discussion next month with these incredible feminist thinkers.

Amani Naseem - game developer, advocate, producer, feminist

Casey Jenkins - artist, activist, agitator, feminist

Natasha Ludowyk - social policy researcher, volunteer, parent, feminist

Emma Kerin - union official, organiser, activist, feminist

It’s a huge lineup for an incredibly important topic, at a time when we’re seeing a critical mass in the public conversation around issues like increasing minimum wage, parental leave, overall wage parity and the terrible fact of women needing special rights at work to cope with intimate partner violence. Cherchez la Femme is incredibly proud to create a space to help further these discussions and provide support for the feminist activists and thinkers already fighting for women’s rights in all workplaces.
